Accessibility statement
We, Maayan and Chen of Train2Aus, want everyone to be able to use the Australian-Hebrew Dictionary shop, including people with disabilities. We built it with accessibility in mind from the start, and we keep improving it.
Level of accessibility
The site was built to meet the Israeli standard IS 5568, which is based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA, as far as possible for a shop that runs on the Shopify platform.
What we did
- You can browse and buy using only a keyboard. Every control, including the garment, colour and size pickers, the EN button and the size chart, works from the keyboard, with a clear outline around whatever is selected.
- Every product photo has a text description, in Hebrew and in English, for screen readers.
- Headings are in order, every field has a label, and each passage is marked as Hebrew or English, so screen readers read it with the right pronunciation.
- Text colours meet the standard's contrast ratio everywhere on the site, with one exception listed below.
- The photos that change on the home page pause under the mouse or keyboard focus, stop once you pick a colour or garment, and don't move at all when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The site adapts to phones, tablets and computers, and you can zoom to 200% without losing content.
- The Hebrew version reads right to left and the English version left to right.
What isn't fully accessible yet
- The blue "Visit the train2aus blog" button at the bottom of each page: its white text on the blog's blue is below the recommended contrast. The same link is at the top of every page in a readable form.
- Checkout and the order emails are run by Shopify and are in English. The order emails also open with a Hebrew paragraph.
- The privacy policy is Shopify's, and is in English only.
